Studying

Tomorrow wraps up the semester for me.  I was hoping to get some studying in on campus today.  The only problem is that the parking was atrocious today.  Apparently people only show up at the beginning of the semester and for finals.  So I decided to do some unorthodox studying skills today.  I came to Liquid Smoke to enjoy a beer and have a cigar.  I must say it has been some relaxing studying.  Brickhouse cigar and an El Mejor Emerald cigar for me today.  Good day of studying so far.  I will post a wine vlog later.

Christmas

I am going to back off of my vlogs for the month of December.  Going to put my money towards Christmas presents more than anything.  I will still try to do one or two a week.  I just ordered 4 wines from winelibrary.com.  I will be doing a budget month on all of those wines.

So I bought a brand new laptop August for school.  Since I've bought I've had to take it to geek squad 3 times for freezing.  Taking it back tomorrow for the same thing. Hyrid Pinot Noir

My initial  assessment of this wine was way off.  After the excitement of trying it the first time I scored it higher than I should have.  After I turned the video off I struggled to drink it.  I think its because my pallet was cleaned from drinking water.  My new rating on it now is 77.  I would not try this wine again.  Sorry for the confusion

La Herencia Oscuro Fuerte and Sweetwater IPA

I'm at liquid smoke enjoying a relaxing cigar and brew.  The cigar has a dark oscuro wrapper that looks like it has a dark stain. It smells earthy and leathery.  Has a great full bodied smoke to it. Its a solid 89-90 point stogie. The IPA is always great. Very reminiscent of sour grapefruit.  Great beer. Ill put up a vlog later of wine. See you tonight

Well laptop crashed again today. No new videos for 3 days. It seems that every time I catch a stride it crashes.  Can't wait to put up s new video when I get it back. QOTD:  Have you tried a cigar and if so what's your favorite?

Taisting Idea

I'm thinking about doing a budget wine show.  I want to do it with several different wines that are budget friendly.  I'm thinking about doing Chianti in the bottle style that you see in Italian restaurants.  You know the kind with the wicker around the bottom of the bottle.  Plus the typical jug Burgundy wine you see.  Tell me your thoughts on this.

Sorry I didn't put up any new posts last night.  Had a guys night with some good friends of mine.  I went to Arrington Vineyards last night for there cigar night.  Had some good Cabernet and Red Fox Red.  I felt the Red Fox Red paired with a cigar a lot better than the Cabernet did.  I should have a new video up tonight.  Have a good day

I feel like I lost my groove from not posting in so long.  I hope you enjoy.  Also this wine shows a lot of heat on the back end.  The alcohol is really coming through.  Not a terrible thing and it doesn't change my opinion on it.

Sorry I haven't posted anything since Monday.  My computer crashed last night as I was getting ready to record a new vlog.  I should have it back in 3-5 days.  I will put something up soon.

Had the 2009 Blufeld Riesling tonight with dinner.  Sorry to say that we drank it before I had a chance to Vlog or Blog about it.  It was a great Riesling if not the best Ive ever had.  Much better that any American version I've ever had.  I plan on getting it again soon and will Vlog about it.  Definitely doing a vlog tomorrow night.

No new wines going up today.  I'm in class from 8 am till 5:30 pm tonight.  Then I go into work at 7 pm.  I did try a Lamadrid 2008 Torrontes last night.  I plan on getting it sometime this week or next week and doing a video on it.  This week you can expect about 3-4 different videos.  There is a white Bordeaux that is the low end label of Rothschild, a Mosel Germany Riesling, an Italian Muscadet, a Cotus Du Rhone, and possibly Apothic Red Blend.  Other than that we had a good weekend and ate way too much food.  See everyone tomorrow.  Going to keep the tradition going with the question of the day.  Please respond if you feel like it.  Trying to get some interaction going on here.

No new wines for today.  I would like to extend a happy birthday to my best friend, my wife.  I love you and thank you for being there for me.  Tomorrows wine will be posted on Sunday.  Maybe I can talk Alyssa into being a guest on my blog.  If anyone wants to taste along with me I will be tasting the 2008 Broadside Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles, California.

Spaghetti night wine

Monday night's wine pales in comparison to Sunday's.  We tried a wine from the central region of Italy called Gran Sasso Montepulciano D'Abruzzo.  It has a dark and I mean dark purple color with a grape juice nose and a hint of oak and vanilla.  It has a decent mouth feel.  Tannin structure is a bit bitter and can really feel it in my jaw.  My first impression is that it's an average wine.  The flavor seems to fall off the more I drink it.  It is a serviceable wine that I would definitely drink again.  I think it's more of an every night wine.  I would rate it a solid 86 points. For it only being $9.99, I would definitely buy it again.
